HRH Crown Princess Katherine of Serbia was honored for her humanitarian work with a golden plaque from the Greek Society for the Maintenance of Traditional Architectural Heritage yesterday at the Cultural Center of the Municipality of Athens.
The event was attended by HRH Crown Prince Alexander, Mr. David Andrews, son of Princess Katherine, with his wife Dr. Angie MargaritisAndrews and their son Alexander, the sister of Princess, Mrs. Betty Roumeliotis, Mrs Sissy Pavlopoulou, spouse of the President of the Hellenic Republic, and best men of David and Angie Andrews, the former member of the European Parliament Mrs. RodiKratsa and many others.
The honorary plaque was given to Crown Princess Katherine by the former Greek Minister Mr. YannisVroutsis (Minister of Labour, Social Security and Welfare) with the President of the Organization for the Culture, Youth and Sports, Mr. Christos Tentomas. Dr. FaniRoumeliotisMargaritis President of the Greek Society for the Maintenance of the Traditional Architectural Heritage who spoke about the important humanitarian work of Princess Katherine and touched the attendees. Crown Princess Katherine thanked the society for this prestigious award and emphasized the importance of the human solidarity for people in need.
The event “Neoclassical Mansions of Old Athens” also gave awards to the distinguished Professor Emeritus of Athens University and the Academic of Arts Mr. ChrysanthosChristou and to the distinguished ophthalmologist Dr. Theodore Philippopoulos for their great contribution to society, science and the arts.
In “Kavafe” Hall of the Cultural Center at the Municipality of Athens there will be an exhibition selected paintings from the collection of the artist Dr. FaniRoumeliotisMargaritis and President of the Greek Society Conservation of Traditional and Architectural Heritage, which were created and inspired by the Neoclassical Athenian entitled “A world that lives”, the Mansions of Athens till the 30th of May.
