CROWN PRINCESS KATHERINE CONGRATULATES INTERNATIONAL NURSES DAY

For International Nurses Day, HRH Crown Princess Katherine sends her congratulations to all nurses and medical technicians in Serbia, the Republic of Srpska, and worldwide, emphasizing the importance of their work to healthcare systems and the well-being of patients everywhere. This day is a perfect opportunity to highlight the important role of nurses in the healthcare system, as well as to give thanks for their selfless work and dedication to providing healthcare.

“Nurses and medical technicians deserve every possible admiration and respect for their esteemed courage, strength, and devotion. Being ill, and having to go to the hospital are situations that are never easy, they can bring many worries and fear, apprehension from the unknown, but nurses are those who are always there to guide us through these challenging times, to offer a helping hand, comfort and a kind word. Not only to the patients but to their families as well.

They face challenges and risks on a daily basis, yet remain committed to their work, doing everything in their power to help the patients. Nurses are the heart and soul of any healthcare system. Together with doctors, they make a great and unbreakable team, who risk their health daily, to save the lives of others. That is why the work of nurses and medical technicians is so important and deserves every praise, each day.

Nurses give so much of themselves to all those in need, they are selfless, kind, and the greatest support to their patients. Dear nurses, thank you for your tireless care and love for your patients! You are our everyday heroes, and we thank you for your care and compassion from the bottom of our hearts“, said HRH Crown Princess Katherine.

Her Royal Highness also emphasized the importance of cooperation and exchange of knowledge and experience among nurses, as a key factor in raising the quality of health care. Precisely for this reason, HRH Crown Princess Katherine established the Royal Nurses Board, which aims to provide support and encourage collaboration of nurses throughout our country in this important sector.

International Nurses Day is celebrated every year on 12 May, the birthday of Florence Nightingale, who is considered the pioneer of modern nursing. This is an opportunity to acknowledge and thank all the nurses and medical technicians around the world, who, through their work and sacrifice, make a huge contribution to the healthcare system and the well-being of patients.
