Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine attended an extremely successful fundraising event, “Wheels of Hope” for the flood relief efforts in Serbia and Bosnia Herzegovina in Toronto Canada, hosted by Lifeline Canada Humanitarian Organization whose patron is HRH Crown Princess Katherine.

The event gathered many Serbs living in the Toronto area as well as many other distinguished guests such as Member of the Canadian Parliament for Pickering, Scarborough East, Mr. Chisu Corneliu who on behalf of the Canadian Government, Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Christian Paradis, Minister of International Development and La Francophonie, chose the event to announce a Canadian $800,000.00 contribution for relief efforts, as well as many projects on the ground that will be administered in cooperation between the Canadian Red Cross, Red Cross Serbia and Red Cross Society of Bosnia Herzegovina.

Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander II and Crown Princess Katherine presented numerous guests with the problems that people in Serbia and especially children are facing after disastrous flood, the worst in 120 years that hit this country in May, and warmly thanked them for their understanding and support.

Mr. Chisu delivered a speech on behalf of the Canadian Government emphasizing: “Your efforts are making a difference. The community has come together with singular purpose – to help improve the quality of life, safety and health of those families displaced and injured due to tragedy and your efforts are not going unnoticed. Our Prime Minister and all members of Government recognize your charity, hard work and deep affection to your homeland”.

The speeches were also delivered by the Serbian Ambassador to Canada, His Excellency Mihajlo Papazoglou, who spoke in detail about the catastrophic flooding as well as Consul, Mr. Spasoje Milicevic, from the General Consulate of Serbia in Toronto.

The event was more than well received by those who attended, and included an incredible live auction. Auction items included two dresses by the famous Serbian fashion designer, Roksanda Ilincic, who resides in London, England; signed tennis balls and posters from Novak Djokovic; three paintings donated by Serbian artists Nada Vujosevic, Ivana Kortez, and Radmila Krstic. The funds raised will be dispersed through the Foundation of HRH Princess Katharine in Serbia to provide immediate relief for flood victims.
