CROWN PRINCESS AND LIFELINE CHICAGO CONTINUE TO ASSIST ANTON SKALA SCHOOL

Another significant donation by The HRH Crown Princess Katherine Foundation and Lifeline Humanitarian Organization of Chicago, which is under the patronage of Her Royal Highness, was delivered to the Anton Skala Elementary School in Belgrade, Serbia. HRH Crown Princess Katherine, together with her sister, Mrs. Betty Roumeliotis, personally visited the school today on this occasion, and officially opened the newly renovated premisses.

This project was made possible by an incredibly generous donation from the Pittsburgh Tri-State Committee of Lifeline Chicago, and from the Three Kolo Group – The Circle of Serbian Sisters of St. George of Joliet, Illinois, The Circle of Serbian Sisters Kneginja Zorka of Lansing, Illinois, and The Circle of Serbian Sisters of St. Archangel Michael of Lansing, Illinois, steadfast supporters of Lifeline Chicago.

The determination of these long-time supporters of Lifeline Chicago to provide help to the children of Serbia has resulted in The Anton Skala School receiving: three desktop computers, one color printer and 20 cork boards to be used in classrooms.  In addition, the school was equipped with a calming corner in three separate classrooms, each including: a rocking chair, a folding mattress, a room divider that separates the calming corner from the rest of the classroom, a small play rug, and a cabinet with colored drawers for didactic materials.

This vast undertaking also included refurbishing and equipping the dining room of the school by painting the walls, installing new doors, and providing 12 new tables and 48 new chairs. In addition, two large boxes of toys and balls were provided to the school.

This donation from Lifeline Chicago is in continuance of already established cooperation for the benefit of the school and its pupils, which started with Lifeline Chicago’s first donation to the school in October 2022.

“Our children deserve to have the best possible conditions for learning so they can attend classes carefree and safely, in a nice working environment. That is why this donation is so important, and I am very grateful to the Pittsburgh Tri-State Committee of Lifeline Chicago, and the Three Kolo Group who have generously been supporting the work of my Foundation in Belgrade for many years.

Together, we have made a lot of children in Serbia happy. I am so glad that our people in the diaspora want to help our country and have not forgotten their homeland. They show that when there is love in and willingness to help, we can do so much for the benefit of the children, who are our biggest treasure”, said HRH Crown Princess Katherine.

“It is always a great pleasure to cooperate with wonderful and good people, in this case there were indeed many of them, who showed great understanding and provided support for the children with autism who attend our school. This project brought us together to jointly design the best solutions in relation to our current needs and the funds collected.

We would like to thank all the donors who helped equip the school with furniture and other necessary resources: HRH Crown Princess Katherine Foundation, Lifeline Chicago, Pittsburgh Tri-State Committee, and the Three Kolo Group. We hope that, as before, it will bring joy to many more children like ours, all employees and parents and make their environment more beautiful and their circle of friends richer”, stated Mrs. Natasa Selic Stankovic, Director of the “Anton Skala” School.
