CROWN PRINCESS KATHERINE AND BRIDGE OF LIFE CONTINUE HELPING UKRAINIAN ORPHANS

The Bridge of Life Humanitarian Organization and HRH Crown Princess Katherine, together with Lifeline Humanitarian Organization offices, that are under the patronage of Her Royal Highness, continued providing help to the internally displaced Ukrainian children, inflicted by the terrible war in Ukraine.

Since our last report in June, more aid, collected by the efforts of the Lifeline offices and thanks to the dedication of their donors, was distributed by Mr. Edward Wayne Jr, the Director of The Bridge of Life, and his wife Tatjana Trickovic. The focus was now on supporting the orphans, but also, the others who need help were not forgotten. During this period, the two children’s houses (orphanages) were supported with necessary items.

The first Child house that received help is known locally as “The Sun House” in Zhuravno, Lviv area, currently has 96 children aged 2 to 6 years old and 55 more children waiting to come. The electrical system was insufficient and needed repairs, for which all of the electrical supplies have been purchased. A complete upgrade of the basic electric system was done, so that there is now sufficient basic power to operate the washing machines, dryers, and kitchen appliances.

The second orphanage, known locally as “Antonovich Children” in Lviv, currently is taking care of a total of 63 children, aged 1 day to 4 years old. Their urgent need was for one commercial washing machine, one commercial dryer, one electric potato peeling machine, and a supply of paint for the playground equipment so that it will be bright and cheerful for the little ones.

In addition to the support for the orphans, the 4th emergency off-road vehicle (Land Rover) was purchased and delivered to Odessa, in order to provide first-aid to the villages.

We are also very proud to say that the Foundation of HM Custodian of the Crown of Romania Margareta, has agreed to provide the additional four computers requested by the Child HelpLine in Romania, which was previously supported by the Bridge of Life and HRH Crown Princess Katherine.

“War has never brought any good to anybody, only pain and suffering to the innocent people, and it is hardest for the children who were forced from their homes and fled with their families in search of safety. That pain is even greater for the orphans. Their childhood was violently interrupted by the war, and it is our duty to help them. I would like to send gratitude from my heart to my dear friends Edward and Tatjana, for giving me this opportunity to provide aid to the children of Ukraine, and to do what we can to reduce their pain.

My husband, Crown Prince Alexander, and I are committed to providing all support possible so that women and children of Ukraine will receive aid, but also, the very important message, the same that the Serbian refugees in the past needed desperately – “You are not alone! There are people who care for you deeply”, stated HRH Crown Princess Katherine.

TRH Crown Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine have been supporting the humanitarian work in Serbia by The Bridge of Life for more than 20 years, where the focus of the projects was providing aid to Serbian children.

In February 2022, Mr. Edward Wayne and his wife Tatjana Trickovic informed Their Royal Highnesses that they could no longer stand still and watch the terrible images in Ukraine. Crown Princess Katherine was already in the progress of finding ways to help the suffering civilian women and children who were trying to escape from war. They, once again, joined forces to provide aid to innocent victims. Edward and Tatjana immediately went to Ukraine to distribute help directly to those who need it the most and have chosen to remain during this dark period in history with the hopes of brighter days tomorrow.
