Lifeline Humanitarian Organization of Chicago and HRH Crown Princess Katherine Foundation have renovated and fully equipped two classrooms at the “Sava Maksimovic” elementary school in the village of Mramorak, Kovin municipality, Serbia. The renovation and furnishing of these classrooms, which will be crucial for providing children with quality learning experiences and enhancing their musical, artistic, and computer skills, was made possible by the generous donation of Mrs. Nada Stevens in memory of her late husband Mr. David Stevens.
Lifeline Chicago, which has been under Crown Princess Katherine’s patronage for more than 3 decades, continued providing to the future of our country, to our children. The music and art classrooms are now equipped with 22 single desks, 22 chairs, a podium and teacher’s chair, 3 cabinets, 7 keyboards with stands and bags, 9 xylophones, and 1 accordion. The computer classroom is furnished with 24 computer desks, 24 chairs, a podium and teacher’s chair, 2 cabinets, 14 computers with speakers and headphones, 5 color printers, and 7 packages of paper.
The renovation of these two classrooms also included floor replacement, wall plastering and painting, door and radiator repair, and painting in the computer classroom. In the music and art classroom, walls were plastered and painted, and radiators were painted.

By providing children with better learning conditions, we support their future, and by doing so, the future of our country, but also of the whole world,” said HRH Crown Princess Katherine.
Ljiljana Krničanin, the Principal of “Sava Maksimovic” Elementary School in the village of Mramorak, expressed gratitude to HRH Crown Princess Katherine, Mrs. Nada Stevens, and Lifeline Chicago. “The members of the staff of the elementary school “Sava Maksimovic” from Mramorak express immense gratitude for the donation our school received from the Lifeline Humanitarian Organization of Chicago, which is under the patronage of Crown Princess Katherine. The joy of the students is immense and evident through the use of renovated spaces and equipment. This will significantly improve computer science and music education, supporting the development of the school orchestra, which has achieved outstanding success at festivals and competitions for two decades. The most modern teaching aids and instruments for the school orchestra are a huge support and incentive for the overall development and progress of all school students. We can only express immense gratitude to Lifeline Chicago and Mrs. Nada Stevens for this selfless donation, which we will remember for a long time and certainly justify with our future performances and recognitions,” said Ljiljana Krničanin.
The principal also said that in the previous school year, the orchestra of this school won the first prize at the 23rd national competition of orchestras of elementary schools and primary music schools in Serbia, where, with the maximum score of 100 points, it proudly took home the title of laureate. The members of the orchestra are so happy, and they see this donation as a reward for their years of hard work.
