As the children’s song for the greatest Christian holiday says “Christ is risen, he brought joy”, HRH Crown Princess Katherine continues her mission of providing to children on Orthodox Easter, bringing them happiness and the spirit of the holiday. Crown Princess’s Foundation in Belgrade, together with offices of Lifeline Humanitarian Organization abroad, prepared presents that were delivered to various institutions in Serbia and the Republic of Srpska today, on Holy Thursday.
More than 1,000 children without parental care from Serbia were delighted with presents for Easter, which brought smiles to their faces. The traditional Easter reception for children without parental care at the White Palace, which has been organized since 2001, could not be organized this year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine made sure that the gifts were delivered to the children and that they know they are not and will never be forgotten.
Gifts, including toys, hygiene products, school supplies, and traditional Easter presents, arrived at 11 homes for children without parental care, 3 day-care centers for children with special needs, 1 educational institution, and 4 shelters for women in Belgrade, Pancevo, Kragujevac, Sombor, Novi Sad, Aleksinac, and Bela Crkva. We are especially glad that the packages were also received by children from Serbian families in Kosovo and Metohija. In addition to the packages, Lifeline Chicago and the Crown Princess Katherine Foundation in Belgrade also organized the delivery of food for Easter lunch for children in 11 orphanages and women’s shelters in Serbia and the Republic of Srpska, so that the youngest could enjoy a nice holiday meal.
“Holidays are the time that most people spend with their loved ones, it is always considered a time for family. And my heart brakes in half whenever I think about these little angels who live in orphanages and do not have a mom or dad by their side. That is why it is important to always remember them and to do what we can so they know that there are people who love them and care for them. They never ask for anything big, a small token of appreciation means the world to them and fills their hearts with hope and happiness.
I am very grateful to all donors who made it possible, with their generosity and caring for those in need, that we bring the joy of Easter to these beautiful children. Through our joint efforts, we ensured that the little ones know that they are not forgotten and that they are not and will never be alone.
Dear children, I wish you a happy Easter, and I want you to always know that we love you and think of you. Your smiles give us the strength to persevere and continue – when we see you happy, our hearts are filled with joy as well”, said HRH Crown Princess Katherine
In addition to the main benefactors of Lifeline Humanitarian Organization of Chicago, with the support of the Lifeline offices in New York, Toronto, and London, donors who generously supported this project, and to whom we are most sincerely grateful are: Coca Cola, Jaffa Company, Zito promet and the Embassy of Kuwait.
